What is an Extraction Service?
Every one knows that the
web is a store house of Information. Information on the web can be put to several uses. For example you can read news from say twenty to hundred sites and send out a summary to your clients every month.

Regardless of the details an extraction process consists of a script or program to visit a website and pullout or extract data from the page. Most pages are not well structured and contain unwanted information (e.g. advertisements), which are discarded by the script. Unstructured information is converted into structured database fields. Other operations performed by the script include crawling the site,login,filling in forms.
Writing the scripts for extraction needs programming knowledge or knowlege of html as a minimum and in general the use of statistical or other advanced procedures.
